What You’re Wondering
(and What to Expect)
How do I know if therapy is right for me (or us)?
If you’re asking the question, that’s usually your answer. Therapy isn’t only for crisis moments—it’s for when something feels off, stuck, or heavier than it needs to be. Many clients come in not knowing exactly what the problem is, only that the current way of coping or relating isn’t working anymore.
What makes your approach different?
I work from a systemic, relational lens, which means we don’t just focus on symptoms—we look at patterns. How you learned to communicate, attach, protect yourself, and respond in relationships matters. Therapy is collaborative, thoughtful, and practical, with an emphasis on emotional safety, accountability, and real-life change.
Do you take sides in couples or family therapy?
No. My role is to support the relationship, not to determine who is “right.” We focus on understanding each person’s experience while identifying the patterns that keep conflict going. Therapy works best when everyone feels heard and respected.
What if my partner or family member is hesitant about therapy?
That’s more common than you think. You don’t have to be fully confident or aligned to begin—just willing to show up. Often, therapy becomes a place where hesitation softens once people feel understood rather than judged.
How long does therapy last?
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Some clients come in for short-term, focused work around a specific issue, while others stay longer to address deeper relational patterns. We’ll regularly check in to make sure therapy continues to feel purposeful and supportive.
Will therapy just be talking?
Talking is part of it—but it’s not the whole story. Sessions are active and intentional, with tools, reflection, and insight designed to help you apply what we discuss outside the therapy room. The goal is change you can feel in real life, not just understanding.
What if things feel uncomfortable at first?
That’s normal—and often a sign that meaningful work is happening. Therapy is a space where honesty and vulnerability are encouraged but never forced. We move at a pace that feels safe while still gently challenging what no longer serves you.
Do you work with high-conflict couples or families?
Yes. High conflict often signals unmet needs, emotional injuries, or patterns that haven’t been understood yet. With structure, clarity, and support, therapy can help reduce reactivity and create more productive, respectful conversations.
Is everything we talk about confidential?
Yes. Therapy is confidential, with limited legal and ethical exceptions that will be reviewed during your first session. Creating a space that feels safe and trustworthy is a foundational part of my work.
What’s the first step to getting started?
The first step is reaching out. You can schedule a consultation or an initial session to determine if working together feels like the right fit. Therapy is a commitment to yourself—and you don’t have to have everything figured out before you begin.
